White out!

Yesterday we crossed over from Wayne County to Beaver County - with some surprises coming. Coming away from walking Goblin National Park in hot sunshine we headed for the town of Salina and had omelettes and hashbrowns in an all-American diner - a cultural first for me. This area is associated with Butch Cassidy, the Sundance Kid and Eta Place. Local tourism makes a lot of that.
Salina looked to be on the 'rust belt'. I have never seen such a run down and depressed town - even more than Lowestoft, UK.
The wind became fierce and cold so we decide to quit our camping spot for the night and managed to book a one-room cabin in a trailer park. We got there at 9pm. The park had hot showers.......total bliss after a hard day's canyon walking. After a decent night's sleep we woke to a big shock. A blizzard had come through the county overnight. Temperatures plummeted and heavy snow was falling. Our planned cycle departure from Frisco or Minersville was off. Too dangerous in this blizzard. So... alternative programme. We are heading south to St George near the Nevada State border. Near the Grand Canyon. The weather may be better there.
Late afternoon: Things have changed massively - and for the better. What with the snow and AB feeling he needed  a day's rest after so much driving, we managed to rent a condo in St George for two nights. We got a very cheap cancellation deal. It feels pallatial after the tiny one-room cabins we've been in lately. There's a swimming pool & gym - which we'll use. A lovely Adobe retirement condo. Also, the weather has cleared up and there's some sun out.
Tomorrow, we take the bikes to Zion National Park and start our ride from there. We are in Washington County now.
